Against Gochuk LG on 7 July, Lee batted third and hit a line drive over the right field fence in his second at-bat of the third inning. After reaching on an infield single in his first at-bat in the first inning, Lee took advantage of Plutko’s four-pitch cut fastball in the third inning. Prior to this game, Plutko had not lost a game in 11 starts this season. He remained unbeaten at 8-0 until he was hit by Lee Jung-hoo’s third pitch of the season.
The home run gave Kiwoom a 2-1 lead. It was Lee’s sixth home run of the season and his second of the season, raising his batting average to .286.
After hitting just .218 in April, he is hitting .305 in the month of May and four-for-four in June. At this rate, he’ll likely hit triple digits sometime this week.
