Korean women’s table tennis hopeful Shin Yoo-bin (19-Korean Air-World No. 20) has secured two silver medals after reaching both the singles and doubles finals at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Lagos.

Shin defeated junior Kim Na-young (18-Fosco International) 3-1 (12-10, 8-11, 11-9, 11-7) in the women’s singles semifinals of the WTT Contender Lagos in Lagos, Nigeria, on Sunday.안전놀이터

In the women’s doubles semifinals, she teamed up with Jeon Jeon-hee, who won a silver medal together at the World Championships in Durban, South Africa, last month, to defeat the Chinese pair of Zhang Shiyao-tong and Yang Yun 3-1 (6-11, 12-10, 11-7, 11-7). The highest-ranked player in the tournament, Xin Yubin reached both the singles and doubles finals in her first international event since the World Championships, further demonstrating her remarkable rise since returning from injury.

In the final, she will have to face the Great Wall again. China fielded a number of up-and-coming aces who are not currently ranked in the world. In the singles final, Xin Yubin will face Li Yaker (CHN). In the women’s doubles, China’s Liu Weishan and Pan Shikizo will play for gold.

Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles quarterfinals, the top-seeded pair of Lim Jong-hoon (KOS) and Shin Yu-bin (CY) defeated the Chinese pair in a full-game battle to reach the final, where Jang Woo-jin and Jeon Jeon-hee (Mirae Asset Securities) fell just short to claim the silver medal. In the final, they fell to China’s Xiang Peng and Liu Weishan 1-3 (9-11, 12-10, 6-11, 10-12). But they still had one more chance. After winning back-to-back silver medals at the World Championships, Zhang Wujin and Lim Jonghun reached the men’s doubles final. In the semifinals, they overcame Chinese rookies Liu Dingxiao and Zhao Jihao 3-1 to reach the final. They will play for gold against China’s Xiang Peng-Yuan Sen in the final on Sunday.
