Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Hyun-jin Ryu is at a critical stage in his rehabilitation.

In an interview with local media such as ‘Sportsnet’ before the game against the Texas Rangers on Sunday (June 17), Toronto manager John Schneider said that Ryu threw one inning of Live BP and felt good.

Ryu, who underwent Tommy John surgery last year, is currently rehabbing at PDC, the team’s training facility in Dunedin, Florida.

Since he only pitched one inning, the next step will likely be to increase his innings in the same Live BP.

Alex Manoa, who was demoted due to poor performance and is currently in Dunedin making adjustments, threw a simulated game the day before. He threw five innings and 75 pitches in a controlled environment.

Schneider was pleased with his performance, saying, “Everything we’ve been talking about in terms of delivery and mechanics was good.” He’s expected to throw one more live BP before making an actual start.

Meanwhile, right-hander Chad Green, who is also rehabbing in Dunedin, will throw out of the bullpen, and Zach Popp will make a rehab start a day later at Single-A Dunedin.
