It’s an exciting bat.
Shohei Ohtani went 1-for-5 with a walk and two strikeouts in the leadoff spot in the lineup for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim’s 2023 Major League Baseball home game against the Chicago Cubs at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, USA, on 9 September.메이저놀이터
In his first at-bat, Ohtani struck out swinging on a five-pitch knuckle curveball from Cubs starter Drew Smyly.
He made it count in his second at-bat. With two outs and one on, Ohtani took a knuckleball from Smiley, who had struck out the previous at-bat, and laced it up the middle.
However, he was unable to score as Mike Trout followed with a straight hit to centre field.
With runners on first and second in the fourth, he was stranded on a pop fly to third.
In the sixth, with runners on second and third, he was hit by Smiley’s five-pitch high sinker and grounded out to second.
In his final at-bat with two outs in the eighth, he struck out swinging.
Ohtani’s season batting average dropped slightly from .275 to .274 (66 for 241).
However, he has a five-game hitting streak dating back to April 4 against the Houston Astros.
On that day, the Angels completed a 3-1 series sweep of the Cubs and improved to 34-30 on the season.
